Well, October is here, and it’s the best time in sports.
The sports equinox is coming up on Monday, October 26, 2026, when the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL will all play games on the same day. It’s what we spectators train for all year long!
But before that happens, there’s plenty to discuss in the sports world. Let’s get into it.

Playoff Baseball
There are only four teams left after a 162-game season and the first two rounds of the playoffs: the Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Guardians, and Tampa Bay Rays. Looking at this list, one team stands out: the evil empire of the 2020s, the superteam above all superteams, some say they’re ruining baseball; Yes, I’m talking about the Dodgers.
The other three teams are from smaller markets and haven’t raised the World Series trophy in a very long time — or ever. The Guardians haven’t won since they were the Indians in 1948, and the Rays and Brewers have NEVER won a World Series. Milwaukee is already up in the series vs. the Dodgers 1-0. The Guardians and Rays face off for Game 1 of the ALCS tonight.
So this October, root for the underdogs. Everyone is an underdog against the Dodgers.

5 Weeks into the No Fun League
Yes, I’ve been watching the No Fun League (NFL) this ultra-violent sport, but mostly just my team, the Green Bay Packers. For the Cheeseheads, it’s been an up-and-down season so far, with plenty of injuries and a discombobulated offense. The Packers finally beat up on Ben Johnson’s Bears, which felt oh-so-good — especially after last season’s playoff demise against them.
To be fair, the Bears started their second-string QB, but they’ve been winning games with backups since Caleb Williams’ tearful exit in the second game of the season.

In other team news, the Chiefs are good again, which is so annoying. The Dolphins are really bad again, which is just sad. The Jets are randomly back? Good for Jets fans, I guess. And the Patriots, even after the offseason drama, are finding ways to win big games. Like they say, it’s a week-to-week league, so you never know what can happen on any given Sunday (or Thursday, or Monday).
Formula 1
To be honest, I’ve kind of been snoozing through this season. I know Max Verstappen won this past weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix. Mercedes is back to being dominant as a tandem. Lando Norris is sad. And Sir Lewis Hamilton is now dating Kim K.

Basketball
I’m not a huge hoops fan, but I know the WNBA is finishing up its season this week. The Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries will face off in the WNBA Finals, which begin on October 17, 2026.
As for the NBA, the Sixers look like the team to beat with their offseason acquisitions of Jalen Brown and LeBron James.
