Women’s Baseball: History Is Made
Women’s professional baseball just had their first-ever draft, and history was made when Kelsie Littmore became the first woman selected in a pool of 120 players. The league, which has been years in the making, represents a monumental step forward for women’s sports and baseball alike. This is only the beginning: there are teams forming across the country and a full season planned for next year. Littmore, a standout pitcher from the University of Oregon, told reporters she’s “ready to prove what women can do on the diamond.” We’ll be watching closely as this league develops, and rooting hard for its success.
Men’s Baseball: Hot Stove Season Delivers Drama
Hot stove season is living up to its name. New signings, offloadings, and, brace yourselves, a blockbuster trade out of NYC. Brandon Nimmo, the guy who famously sprints to first base no matter what (yes, even on walks), is headed to Texas in exchange for Marcus Semien. This move shakes up the Mets’ infield and doesn’t bode well for Jeff McNeil, their current second baseman, who’s now firmly on the hot seat. Exciting times! Though nothing says “happy holidays” quite like losing your job before Thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, the rumor mill is churning: Where will Kyle Schwarber land? Will the Pirates make any moves that matter? (Probably not) And in a fascinating subplot, several Japanese players are giving up millions of dollars to play minor league baseball stateside, all for a shot at making the majors. The dedication is real, and I’m here for it.
Basketball: Playoff Season Can’t Come Soon Enough
Sorry, but wake me up when it’s playoff season. The regular season is dragging, and while there are some bright spots (Victor Wembanyama is still must-watch TV and he’s hurt so bring him back), I’m ready for the games that actually matter. Let’s fast-forward to April, shall we?

Hockey: Cold Outside, Colder Inside
‘Tis the season. The rink temperature now matches the temperature outside, or honestly, it might be warmer inside the arena. Either way, hockey season is in full swing, and there’s nothing quite like watching a game when the air is crisp and the ice is pristine. This is the sport’s moment to shine.
One of my favorite defenseman, Charlie McAvoy, had to have mouth surgery and is out for the remainder of the season.
As always, Go Oilers!
F1: Vegas Drama and a Verstappen Surprise

Wheels were up stateside in Las Vegas, where it was rainy, wet, and star-studded — Beyoncé and Jay-Z were spotted in the paddock, because of course they were. Lando Norris looked poised to take the top spot and collect crucial points this race weekend, but le sigh. In a shocking turn of events, both McLarens were disqualified due to issues with their skid blocks. That handed the first-place trophy and the points to Max Verstappen, who’s now tied for second place in the drivers’ championship. I guess Verstappen was bored and decided to go for another championship. The drama never stops in Formula 1, and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
NFL: Packers Win, Thanksgiving Looms

The Packers played yesterday and, thankfully, won, beating an NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings. They’ll be back on the field Thursday for their traditional Thanksgiving matchup. Any good Thanksgiving meals planned? I’m thinking turkey, stuffing, and a side of Jordan Love magic.
Nothing says Thanksgiving like mashed potatoes, gravy, and CTE.
Cheers,
Sarah
