Well folks, it’s Monday morning and baseball season is officially in the books. But don’t worry—the other sports are heating up. Let’s dive in.

MLB: LA Takes It All
What a finish! In what will go down as a classic Game 7 in MLB history, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in 11 innings at Rogers Centre to claim the championship and etch their names in the history books. With this victory, the Dodgers have now won back-to-back World Series titles; three in the last five years. That’s a dynasty—the likes of which we haven’t seen since the Yankees’ run from 1998–2000.
Think about it: 162 games, plus a grueling postseason that included an 18-inning marathon in Game 3, and they still needed two extra innings to seal the deal in Game 7. I was thrilled for the bonus baseball, but heartbroken by the ending. My heart was pulling for Canada.
The Blue Jays had multiple opportunities to win it in that 11-inning winner takes all game. They stranded 14 runners throughout the game, while the Dodgers left 10 on base but still managed to capitalize when it mattered most. Absolutely gutting for Toronto.

That was Saturday night. Now the countdown begins for free agency—aka the hot stove season—to heat up. MLB free agency kicks off five days after the World Series ends, which means the 2026 season starts taking shape well before those New Year’s fireworks go off.
NFL: Packers Bad, Patriots Good?

My household consists of two football fandoms: Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots. If you’d told me three months ago that the New England Patriots would have a better record than the Green Bay Packers in early November, I would’ve laughed you out of the room. Yet here we are in November 2025, and that’s exactly where things stand. Drake Maye looks like the franchise QB the Patriots hoped for, while Jordan Love and the Packers offense can barely muster a single touchdown over four quarters. Matt LaFleur needs to figure this out fast. Also—did anyone else catch Cardi B sitting next to Robert Kraft at the Pats game? What a wild timeline we’re living in.
In other NFL news, yesterday we had the classic battle of the pop star significant others: Taylor Swift’s Chiefs vs. Hailee Steinfeld’s Bills. Kansas City took on Buffalo, and honestly, Josh Allen and the Bills feel like the last hope for NFL fans who don’t want to watch the Chiefs steamroll their way to another Super Bowl. The Bills won at home 21-28.
NHL and NBA

My weekend was completely consumed by the World Series and football. Now that baseball’s wrapped, I can finally devote proper attention to these two 82-game marathons, respectively. Go Oilers!
Hot take: The NBA doesn’t really get interesting until the playoffs. Beg to differ? Sound off in the comments below.
Until next time,
Cheers!
Sarah
