Monday is here again and so are my musings on all things sportsball. Let’s dive right in!

MLB Playoffs
October baseball drama continues to unfold with several teams already heading to the golf course or whatever long-awaited vacation they have planned. I’m sure the Red Sox have already turned Fenway into a Spirit Halloween and the Reds fans are in mourning mode, while Padres and Guardians supporters are left wondering what might have been.
On the diamond this weekend, Jorge Polanco put on a show with two home runs that brought the crowd to their feet. Meanwhile, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is channeling his Hall-of-Fame father with absolute moonshots (Vladdy stuntin’ like his daddy, if you will), though the Yankees’ pitching staff isn’t doing themselves any favors.
The Mariners remain the most entertaining team to watch — their combination of young talent and veteran leadership makes for must-see TV. Over in the National League (NL), the Dodgers look absolutely dominant (as their payroll would suggest), but don’t count out the gritty fightin’ Phillies who bring electricity to every at-bat. The NL is putting up an admirable fight against what money and market size seem to have predetermined as “the Dodgers’ year.”
NFL Week 6
This weekend’s NFL slate featured mostly forgettable matchups, and my team was on a bye (perfect timing to avoid another potential heartbreak). The Buccaneers and Seahawks both looked impressive in their duel, while the Bills-Patriots showdown on Sunday night devolved into a turnover festival that had me craving apple pastries more than football. Sometimes sloppy games are the most entertaining, though, and somehow New England eked out a win over Buffalo.
F1: Russell in Singapore; McLaren clinches
The Formula 1 circus delivered another show in Singapore, and I’ll admit to a sigh of relief that Max Verstappen didn’t add another win to his collection. Congrats to George Russell on a winning drive. Although Mclaren secured the constructor’s championship with their points this weekend, the real head-scratcher: what happened to McLaren’s pace? After dominating recent races, their sudden performance dip raises questions about the ever-changing balance of power on the grid.

Hockey Season Approacheth
The NHL drops the puck Wednesday night, officially adding another sport to my already packed viewing schedule. Time to puck up and buck up (yes, I made that up) as we prepare for high-sticking, hat tricks, and everything in between on the ice.
More playoff baseball awaits tonight, so grab your popcorn and enjoy the show!
Cheers,
Sarah
